Rarely in modern economic history has there been as much speculation as that this year regarding the timing and extent of the next changes in UK interest rates.

There are months of abundant column inches to come to keep us asleep or awake according to taste!

Perhaps this is not surprising given the lengthy period of 0.5% per annum base rates. When rates changes occur it will seem like a throwback to a bygone age.

Nonetheless, it is a serious matter for pension schemes as to how they are positioned for the change in rates to come. What should they be considering?
